🐰 Donations, Roadmaps, Hiring!
Dear Researchers,
Thank you! Over the past two 2 years, we’ve had the immense privilege of serving scholars in 100+ countries, in all subject areas, from all walks of life. We’ve built novel tools for discovery, visualization, alerts, sharing & collab, and more – and we’re so grateful for the love we’ve received for our work!
As 2022 comes to a close, we wanted to share a couple updates! Below, you’ll find notes on (1) how you can donate to our mission! (2) what’s ahead for our team and (3) a note on hiring.
We’re so immensely grateful for all of you – we simply wouldn’t be here with you. Thank you all, and hope you all have a safe and restful holiday season!
Sincerely,
ResearchRabbit Team

How you can donate to our mission!
To ensure the sustainability of our platform, and continue supporting researchers around the world, we’re excited to announce our donation page 🎉
http://opencollective.com/researchrabbit
We chose OpenCollective because it is:
⦁ transparent – you’ll receive reports on how we spend donations
⦁ global – the platform handles donations around the world
⦁ easy – it’s super simple to make a donation
Please note: our app will remain free for researchers forever! As a mission-driven team, this is an easy decision. After all, we have no interest in selling research back to researchers. Additionally, we know our community is cash-strapped – not to mention a large percentage of our users come from non-OECD countries.
Nonetheless, we are beginning to accept donations as many researchers have recently asked how they can contribute financially! While we are financially secure (ResearchRabbit will be around for years to come), we believe donating to shared infrastructure provides meaningful support to us and the global research community!
What’s ahead for us?
We have huge ambitions for reimagining research and are still eager to pursue those opportunities. However, we’ve learned that those ambitions will take time to realize and require a larger team and funding (much more than required for sustainability-alone)!
Recognizing this, we’ve begun building in our next domain! Let us explain:
We built ResearchRabbit around key insights from various disciplines. For example, we’ve pulled together concepts from:
⦁ human-computer interaction
⦁ recommendation engines
⦁ visualization tech
⦁ and more!
The insights we’re building around (including lessons learned from ResearchRabbit) and our products in general, can be adapted to our next domain!
And here’s where it gets especially exciting:
Our next domain will provide a playground for us to build more advanced tech that we plan to bring back to ResearchRabbit! Similarly, we know that knowledge isn’t limited to peer-reviewed papers; we're building a massive dataset that will complement the world-class academic database that we’ve already built!
1 more thing – we’re HIRING!
As we continue to grow, we’re eager to bring on incredible teammates to join our mission of building powerful, thoughtfully-designed technologies for knowledge!
We’re seeking a hungry Machine Learning engineer who wants to tackle cutting-edge and large-scale problems, join us in building new search paradigms, directly impact user-facing products, and have a real voice on our lean team! Ideally, this engineer would have substantial experience with text-based NLP specialist. Start date in Spring 2023. Non-traditional and unconventional backgrounds very welcome!
Thank you!
You make all of this possible! Through highs and lows, this community gives us the motivation to keep going. From Twitter shoutouts, user interviews, DMs, emails, surveys, and more – we hear you and feel the love!
THANK YOU!
